Identify the material before disturbing it
Do not use the label 'drywall' as proof that an old wall assembly is suitable for ordinary disposal. Ontario's asbestos guidance identifies drywall compound among materials that may contain asbestos. The board, joint compound and other finishes need to be considered together.
Health Canada recommends hiring a professional to assess asbestos before major renovations. If material is suspected or its history is uncertain, arrange qualified advice before work. Do not disturb suspected asbestos yourself or load it into a rental bin.
Check the local disposal route
Oshawa's large-item program excludes renovation and demolition material, including drywall. Durham Region lists drywall among accepted materials at its waste management facilities, and lists asbestos as unacceptable.
The Oshawa facility is at 1640 Ritson Road North. Confirm the current hours, charges and requirements for your particular material before travelling. A general acceptance listing is not confirmation for contaminated material or an unidentified mixed load.
If someone else will transport the waste, agree the receiving destination and its requirements with them first.
Prepare a useful material description
Give the receiving facility or rental provider enough detail to assess the load without guessing. Keep any relevant product information or professional assessment records available. Do not describe removed wall material as new offcuts simply because both contain board.

Keep agreed waste separate from uncertain waste
Once the material has been assessed and accepted, organize the project so other trades cannot add unapproved debris. Tell everyone whether the arrangement covers drywall alone or a specifically agreed mixed load.
If unfamiliar material appears during the work, pause that part of the loading plan and seek advice. Do not bury it beneath already approved waste. A contractor changing the removal scope should trigger a disposal review as well.

Confirm a suitable rental before scheduling removal
Ask Bin and Gone whether the identified material can be accepted for your project. Drywall acceptance is not guaranteed by this guide. If a rental is suitable, agree the size, material mix, weight terms and pickup arrangements before work starts.
