Is a bin necessary for one old mattress?
Not necessarily. Oshawa's Large Item Collection program lists mattresses and box springs, with no booking fee for eligible collection. Property eligibility, item limits, preparation and booking requirements apply. Check those details before putting a mattress outside; a new-bed delivery date does not reserve a City collection.

Are you disposing of a mattress or an entire bed?
A booking described as 'one bed' can leave out several separate pieces. Decide what you are replacing before requesting collection or a rental. A mattress may be leaving while the frame stays, or a full bedroom change may include a base, headboard, storage drawers and nearby furniture.
Write the parts down individually. The table is a planning inventory, not confirmation that every item is accepted by the City, a retailer or Bin and Gone. Ask the chosen service how it counts and handles each component.

Will the mattress and base fit the proposed bin?
Give actual measurements rather than only a mattress size name. A rigid base, a thick mattress and a tall headboard can occupy space differently. Compare the bin dimensions, then ask about the usable opening and the rest of your approved load. An illustration is not a promise that a complete bed fits.
Do not plan on cutting up a mattress, forcing it into a container or leaving it above the rim. Discuss fit first. Tell the provider about damaged or otherwise concerning items before moving them, so you can agree whether they are accepted and what preparation is required.
Who will bring it out of the bedroom?
Bin and Gone supplies a self-loading rental: we deliver the bin and collect it as arranged. We do not provide an in-home mattress pickup or dismantling crew through this service. Arrange suitable help for carrying and loading, including stairs, tight turns and any building access arrangements.
Agree those responsibilities before the new bed arrives. Keep exits clear and do not leave an awkward mattress blocking shared access while waiting for a decision. Review the bin loading guide with whoever will load the approved items.
How do you coordinate the old bed with the replacement?
Write down three arrangements separately: delivery of the new bed, removal from the bedroom and final collection of the old items. Those may involve different people and dates. Decide where the old mattress can wait without obstructing access if they do not line up.
